Gotta love Lucky

This is one in a series of Lucky O'Toole novels by Deborah Coonts and I will readily admit to awaiting the next one.

I love Lucky. She is the "go to" lady for the Babylon Casino in Las Vegas and makes sure everything is running smoothly from Sci-Fi conventions to high rollers with crazy requests.

This specific novel has old grudges, homemade bombs, mafia bad guys. Lucky's love life takes a dive with the demise of Teddie, not literally but figuratively (read and find out why) and the beginning of a very sexy French chef with a painful past.

I would highly recommend to start at the first novel and read your way to Lucky Bang that way all of the interactions and wonderful characters get under your skin. From first to last they are: "Wanna Get Lucky," "Lucky Stiff," "So Damn Lucky," "Lucky in Love," and "Lucky Bang." (I believe the last 2 titles are available as only e-novellas).

There is always murder, mayhem, adrenaline and love mixed in with the Lucky novels and I always enjoy the ride and can't wait for the next.

Not one of her better books

This is the first Lucky book that I haven't liked. While I realize it is a short story - the story itself never really developed - the author was too busy telling you who each of the characters were (which is needed, but not to the determent of the story). And she ran out of space/pages before she could really flesh out the story.

Este libro de dietas es muy bueno, hay que seguirlo al pie de la letra para ver resultados, pero, no esperen un gran cambio, solo se pierden unos kilos los primeros dias, luego recuperas unos pocos y luego empiezas a bajar pero lento, yo no tuve tanta paciencia. Pero merece que lo prueben.

Wow, this book really works!!

I first heard of this book a few years ago. My sister had read it about 4 years ago and really recommended it to me. I kept putting it off because I've never followed a plan to eat healthier and I was a bit skeptical at first. But I really have to admit that I'm really glad I tried this book and it clears up common misconceptioins and diet myths. In this book comes a 9 week plan each divided into days that are organized for better eating. Just in one week you start to get results and by the end you can see more depending on your weight, the more you have the more you loose. The good thing about it is that it doesn't take away meals, on the contrary, it has you constantly eating. As many have said, the first 2 days are probably the hardest then after that everything becomes easy.

I do want to point out that this book is in spanish and some -not all- of the meals are mexican oriented but you can come up with your styles as long as you have the main ingredients.

An excellent approach to the Namibian Culture

After reading it, I felt that I had just left Namibia. I could even visualize the places which the author was talking about. The impression that I had was that I was there at Dune 7 searching for the treasure with Janet and Karl. The story is awesome. It is impossible not to fall in love with it. The perfect mix of culture and love story. And, why not suspense? I do not want to play the spoiler role here, but the story has a surprising and an amazing end! Ms. Cristiane Krumenauer gave a great contribution to the Herero people and all the peoples that comprise the Land of the Brave - Namibia. Congratulations!

A welcome addition to a magick library

This is a well organized and delightful reference book on the basic elements of magic. It covers the basics, including setting up an altar, what the basic tools are and how to consecreate them, succinct chapters on the Tree of Life, the major arcana and assigned to the twenty-two paths of the Tree, including the occult meaning for each of these cards based on Hermetic philosophy, and instructions for performing the major rituals essential to magic study, including the Kabalistic Cross, the Middle Pillar, the Greater and Lesser Rituals of the Pentagram and the Hexagram, and more. The chapter on Alchemy includes a pithy section on condensers, gold condensers, Universal solid and liquid condensers, Elemental fluid condensors, plus tinctures and other alchemical processes. There is even a section on the tattwa cards used for meditation and scrying, popularized by the Golden Dawn.
This book is quite condensed and the information is well organized, concise, and ready to use. It serves as a good overview of the essentials of ritual magic, and while it does introduce these concepts, perhaps this book would be more for the intermediate occultist looking to take the leap.
This book is not just another rehashed magic text. Some of the topics, like the Alchemical processes, are not often found in general magic books.

Compact, excellent quick resource

A friend of mine first pointed out this book to me in a book store. If nothing else, I was entranced by the handsome, legant beauty of this little tome.
But pretty books don't get my dollars. It was the information within that sold me. It contains the highest percentage of the best, most accurate and USEFUL magical information that a magician would need to know, all in a very small package. This book could be likened a miniature encyclopedia which contains quick, to-the-point, information on nearly every aspect of Western Magick (with a dash of the best of the Eastern teachings at the end of the book) without droning on and on with useless drivel that you could find in almost any other modern book on Western Magic.
And of special import to me is the fact that the author is one of the VERY few out there who recognizes that the 'traditional' elemental associations in regards to the magician's Tools, (i.e. wands=fire & swords=air) is flat out WRONG. In case you were wondering, as far as the Tools are concerned, wands=air & swords=fire.
Ironically though, if there is any wrong information in the book, it would have to be that the surprisingly correct elemental magical Tool association is not transferred to the Tarot Minor Arcana, meaning that the 'traditional' Tarot elemental associations still apply in this book (wands=fire, swords=air, cups=water, pentacles=earth). I found this error minor, and was not entirely upset about this, as the only author I know who has ever even attempted to correct this ancient mistake of Tarot elemental association in Western Magick is William Blystone, whose works will be published very soon.
All in all, I highly recommend this book to any magician, beginner or otherwise.

Nice little Tome

This book is almost an offshoot of the one written by King and Skinner titled "Techniques of High Magic" with added information and rituals, both eastern and western in tradition.
For any practicing Magician, a nice piece to have around the temple or alter.
The material was well put together, making information easily accessable.
The paper was durable, print multicolored, simulated leather cover with 2 ribbons to tie shut when travelling.
I purchased a second one to send to a Magician I know in Chicago as a gift....and finding the second one in hardcover was difficult.

This is the first encyclopedia on the burgeoning field of tourism, an industry that has a major influence on the world's economy. Tourism expert Jafari (Ph.D., Univ. of Minnesota, 1985) has recruited over 250 international contributors to explain the field's theories, concepts, and issues. There are also definitions of industry terms and entries for countries, associations, and subject-specific journals. The over 1000 alphabetically arranged entries range in length from a few sentences (e.g., for "excursionist" and "forest recreation") to two or more pages (e.g., for "Italy" and "input-output analysis"). The longer entries usually include suggestions for further reading and/or references. Since the volume was first published in England, some entries use British spellings. Although there is a respectable body of literature consisting of research papers, dissertations, journal articles, handbooks, texts, dissertations, guidebooks, and other monographs covering various aspects of tourism, there are few encyclopedias, and most of those currently available refer to specific subjects or geographic areas.

An international editorial team of more than 315 academics and professionals from various branches of the tourism industry, led by Jafari, Department of Hospitality and Tourism of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, has woven a rich collection of more than 880 definitions and descriptive entries into the Encyclopedia of Tourism. This multidisciplinary volume covers the subject areas of anthropology, business, ecology, economics, education, geography, philosophy, psychology, religion, and sociology as they impact an important worldwide industry.

Individual entries range in size from three or four sentences for Disembarkation card to two to three pages, as for National park. Cross-references are in bold type, and, where appropriate, see also references are provided. There are bibliographies for nearly half of the entries, and some bibliographic references are current to within the last three or four years.

Browsing through this volume reveals the important, complicated, and diverse activities that are inherent to this industry. Entries include definitions of terms (e.g., Cash flow, Excursion, Space allocation), descriptions of the state of tourism in individual countries, historical details of various aspects of tourism, such as Adventure tourism, Grand tour, and Travel literature, and more. Also included in the main body of the work are entries on pertinent journals and newsletters from around the world and national and international associations and organizations. In addition to the general index, separate indexes of these publications and the various groups might have been useful for the reader looking for a quick reference.

The Encyclopedia of Tourism bears some similarity to but is narrower in focus than a previous publication, VNR's Encyclopedia of Hospitality and Tourism (Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1993), which is composed of essay-length entries organized in three major subject areas: food-service management, hotel management, and travel and tourism. The essays discuss current conditions and issues of interest within each section. In spite of the difference in publication dates and organization, these two volumes could be regarded as complementary to each other. The Encyclopedia of Tourism should be useful for professionals in the industry, scholars and researchers, and interested lay readers. It is recommended for academic (including community college and technical college) and large public libraries. RBB

Great Encyclopedia!

This is a Book you must have! It is a good value for everybody interested in tourism - students, tourism professionals, analysts, researchers, PhD candidates.
All aspects of tourism are represented in this comprehensive volume by well written, easily read and informative A-Z entries. Almost all of them include suggestions for further readings (reference lists with titles of all important books and articles published so far). This is a unique selection of concentrated knowledge about tourism from the perspective of economics, management, marketing, geography, sociology, anthropology, psychology (excellent coverage of social aspects of tourism), systems theory etc. The chief editor is J. Jafari (a good done job!). Among the contributors are all relevant names such as: Cohen, Goeldner, Buhalis, Cooper, Dann, Gunn, Holloway, Leiper, Lew, MacCannel, Mason, Oppermann, D. Pearce, P. Pearce, Pizam, Seaton, V. Smith, Urry, Uysal, Weiler and many many others! If there is somehting you can call The Bible of Tourism, than this is it!
